The Chester Game Association is located in Chester Township, Morris County, NJ.
We operate two trapshooting fields - The public is welcome:

Thursdays 6pm - 10pm

Saturdays 9am - 2pm
*Shooters are required to bring their own Shotgun, Ammunition, Eye Protection and Ear Protection
*Only size 7 1/2 shot or smaller, 1 1/8 oz maximum Target/Sport Loads

ABOUT THE CGA:
The Chester Game Association (CGA) is a sportsmen's club with approximately 1600 acres of private property in various parts of Northwestern NJ. Members can hunt all the properties during the appropriate, state-established seasons, with the proper equipment, licenses and permits. The CGA also manages over 500 acres for upland hunting with pheasant, quail and partridge released throughout the season. Since this property is classified as semi-wild, the club enjoys extended upland hunting seasons and hunting seven days a week. SHOOTING FACILITY: The public is welcome to shoot trap on our property in Chester Township. There are outdoor tables, chairs, benches, gun racks, shade trees and a parking area. The backdrop of the trap field has trees high behind a grassy layout with paved trap stations going from 16 to 27 yards. The clubhouse has a wood-burning stove to keep shooters warm on cold nights. The guest fee for a round of single trap is $7.00. |
MEMBERSHIP: The CGA accepts new members via active member referrals. Active members are required to perform duties such as posting properties, cleaning the facilities, property maintenance and periodic operation of the trap range. The Membership meets regularly on the second Tuesday of every month at our clubhouse in Chester Township. HISTORY: Hunters formed the Chester Game Protective Association in 1939, later changing its name to the Chester Game Association. Sometimes referred to locally as "The Chester Gun Club," the CGA trap program started in an old chicken coop in 1955 and has been in continuous operation ever since. Robert H. Whitehead, Honorary Member, former President of the CGA, winner of 14 Grand American trophies, 23 Southern Grand trophies and two-time Captain of the All-American Veterans Trap Team, was inducted into the N.J. State Trapshooting Hall of Fame in 2001. In 2009, the club celebrated its 70th year, making it one of NJ's oldest, continuously-operating sportsman's clubs. |
